L’Ami Jean is a legendary Basque bistro in the 7th arrondissement, at 27 Rue Malar near the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides. Run since 2002 by Brittany-born, Basque-at-heart chef Stéphane Jégo, it is one of the original homes of Parisian “bistronomie” — serious, generous cooking served with rugby-club warmth in a snug, convivial room.

## What to expect at L’Ami Jean

Jégo elevates South Western and Basque classics with fine-dining technique and top produce, in portions that are anything but dainty. Expect hearty charcuterie, game in season, slow-cooked meats and the house’s famous riz au lait, served family-style amid a buzzing, elbow-to-elbow crowd.
