Il est situ\u00e9 rue Las Cases dans le 7\u00e8me arrondissement de la ville. Avant sa construction, les habitants du quartier ne disposaient que d&#039;une petite chapelle d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 Saint Val\u00e8re, situ\u00e9e rue de Bourgogne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Situ\u00e9 entre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paristopten.com\/fr\/invalides\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"373\">Invalides<\/a> et\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.paristopten.com\/fr\/orsay-museum\/\">Mus\u00e9e d&#039;Orsay<\/a>, Sainte Clotilde-and-Saint-Val\u00e8re church was built between 1846 and 1857. Its construction was first led by Christian Gau (who died in 1854), followed by Th\u00e9odore Ballu. The church&#8217;s main style is neo-Gothic, and its characteristic is its two 69-meter-high spires. Its buildings were sold as public property, and its chapel was turned into a parish church for Saint-Thomas-d&#8217;Aquinas and torn down in 1838.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D\u00e8s 1825, la municipalit\u00e9 savait que la paroisse de Saint-Val\u00e8re avait besoin d&#039;une nouvelle \u00e9glise. Ils durent remplacer la toute petite chapelle du couvent de Sainte-Val\u00e8re. They planned to build it on Bellechasse Square, on land belonging to the convent of the Dames de Bellechasse. The new church was called &#8220;Saint-Charles Church,&#8221; after the king, Charles X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le projet fut suspendu jusqu&#039;en 1846. Le nom de Saint-Charles fut chang\u00e9 pour Sainte-Clotilde. L&#039;architecte Fran\u00e7ois-Christian Gau construit ensuite l&#039;\u00e9glise \u00e0 la demande de la reine du Portugal, Am\u00e9lie d&#039;Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Construction apr\u00e8s la mort de Gau<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malheureusement, Fran\u00e7ois-Christian Gau d\u00e9c\u00e8de en 1854 et ne vit pas assez longtemps pour voir le fruit de ses travaux. Th\u00e9odore Ballu, son jeune coll\u00e8gue et \u00e9ventuel successeur, prend la rel\u00e8ve et termine les travaux en 1857. Il modifie les id\u00e9es originales en ajoutant plus de hauteur \u00e0 la fa\u00e7ade. Apr\u00e8s d&#039;importantes modifications des tours, il put enfin construire les clochers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The neo-Gothic building was finished in 1857. Paris Archbishop Francois Nicolas Madeleine Morlot inaugurated the church on November 30, 1857. The church honored Saints Clotilde and Valerie (virgin and martyr of Limoges).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 29, 1888, Pope Leo XIII designated the church a minor basilica to honor the 14th anniversary of Clovis&#8217; baptism. Clovis&#8217; second wife was Saint Clotilde. Goudji planned and built the new high altar in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Qui a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 l&#039;\u00e9glise basilique de Sainte-Clotilde ?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&#039;architecte Jean-Baptiste Lassus a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 l&#039;ach\u00e8vement de l&#039;\u00e9glise. Ils commenc\u00e8rent tous deux \u00e0 y travailler en 1848. La construction prit beaucoup de temps car ils durent faire face \u00e0 de nombreux probl\u00e8mes, comme la m\u00e9t\u00e9o, l&#039;instabilit\u00e9 politique et le manque d&#039;argent. La construction a commenc\u00e9 avec des pierres de Chatillon-Saint-Saine, en Bourgogne, mais plus tard, des pierres d&#039;autres r\u00e9gions ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gau wanted to build two steeple buildings on the church. Civil engineers told him the towers weren&#8217;t strong enough to hold that much weight. Le cardinal Morlot l&#039;ouvrit le 30 novembre 1857, sous les noms de Sainte Clotilde et Sainte Val\u00e8re pour honorer la m\u00e9moire de la chapelle Saint Val\u00e8re. M\u00eame si elle est petite, cette chapelle voisine est une \u00e9glise paroissiale depuis la R\u00e9volution. Quelque part dans le transept, une chapelle porte encore son ancien nom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ext\u00e9rieur de la basilique Sainte-Clotilde<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.paristopten.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Sainte-Clotilde-Basilica-Paris-France.jpg\" alt=\"Sainte-Clotilde Basilica Exterior\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gothic style Church building dates back to the 13th century and is a stunning sight. It is a Latin cross because Gau believed it would make the structure appear more spacious.\u00a0Typical Gothic sculptures honoring the city&#8217;s early Christian settlers adorn the fa\u00e7ade.\u00a0Clovis and Saint Clotilde statues, by artist Geoffroy Dechaume, stand guard at the front door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Int\u00e9rieur de la Basilique Sainte Clotilde<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Le transept<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Explorons le Transept\u00a0! Le transept est l&#039;une des parties les plus magnifiques de Sainte-Clotilde. Les styles architecturaux de ses murs remontent \u00e0 plusieurs si\u00e8cles, ce qui en fait un parfait exemple de l&#039;architecture fran\u00e7aise ancienne. Il est \u00e9galement utile qu&#039;ils aient des vitraux et d&#039;autres \u0153uvres d&#039;art sympas dans l&#039;\u00e9glise Sainte Clotilde \u00e0 Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A chapel in the left transept houses an altarpiece and murals depicting incidents from Saint Clotilde&#8217;s life. Emile Thibaut designed the stunning rose window at the top. Mercier depicts Saint Bathilde, the wife of Clovis II, in a statue at the entryway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il existe deux principaux types de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paristopten.com\/fr\/gothic-cathedrals-in-paris\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3715\">\u00c9glises gothiques<\/a>: aisleless and aisled. An aisleless church has a nave that runs the whole length of the building. Meanwhile, an aisled church has a nave flanked by side aisles. In a layout without aisles, the transepts go past the side walls and meet the nave at an angle of 90 degrees or less. This gives you more freedom when designing altars and other features in these areas. A layout with aisles has a longer distance between its centerlines than one without aisles, which means there&#8217;s even more room for art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As-tu entendu? Cet orgue est c\u00e9l\u00e8bre pour sa longue lign\u00e9e de compositeurs exceptionnels qui ont exerc\u00e9 les fonctions d&#039;organiste titulaire. Cet instrument a \u00e9t\u00e9 fabriqu\u00e9 par Cavaill\u00e9-Coll en 1859, agrandi en 1933 et \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9 en 1962.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u00e9sar Franck (1822 \u2013 1890) was a very well-known French organist. He was born in\u00a0Li\u00e8ge\u00a0and studied with his father, an organist. He became an assistant professor at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels at age 22, where he continued to teach for 28 years until 1859. He moved to Paris and began teaching at \u00c9cole Niedermeyer de Musique Classique et Religieuse de Saint-Germain des Pr\u00e9s on Boulevard Saint-Germain near Luxembourg Garden. Then, as you enter the nave, you&#8217;ll see some beautiful stained glass windows by Mar\u00e9chal. The beautiful Virgin and Child by Henri-Joseph de Triqueti stands at the entrance to the choir. The dove sculpture by Jacques Saint-Bris is on top of the altar. In the back of the choir, you can see the stained glass windows that show Christ with the Holy Virgin, Saint Clotilde, and Saint Val\u00e8re on one side and Saint Peter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.viator.com\/Paris-attractions\/Basilica-of-St-Denis\/d479-a25993?pid=P00057290&amp;mcid=42383&amp;medium=link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow sponsored\">Saint-Denis<\/a>, et Saint Martial de l&#039;autre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jean-Baptiste Barre made statues of Saints Clotilde and Val\u00e8re to stand on top of the high altar, made of gilded bronze and decorated with terracotta statues of Christ and the Apostles. On either side of the altar are two beautiful candles and the signs of the lesser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The central ambulatory leads to five separate chapels. Each chapel has its own paintings and stained glass windows showing events from the life of the person to whom it is dedicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Holy Cross Chapel and the Virgin Mary Chapel are the same in terms of design and decoration. The chapels of St. Louis, St. Joseph, and St. Remi look almost the same as the ones before them.
