Passerelle des Arts is a beloved pedestrian bridge connecting Paris’s first and sixth arrondissements<\/span>. La Passerelle des Arts est une passerelle pi\u00e9tonne qui relie le Louvre \u00e0 l'Institut de France. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit en 1993, vous pouvez donc imaginer qu'il a toute une histoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bridge was constructed when pedestrians could not access either\u00a0mus\u00e9e<\/a>\u00a0from the Seine river. In fact, this was not true for any historic building on either side of this stretch of the waterway\u2014it seems as if Parisians just weren’t allowed there! That changed when then-President Fran\u00e7ois Mitterand decided to create access for tourists and visitors alike by building two bridges: one for cars<\/span> and one for pedestrians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pont des Arts (as it’s also known) is now used by over five million people annually to cross over from one side of Paris’ River Seine to another!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
