Hippy Market is a chain of second-hand clothing shops founded in France and now trading under the brand hippy-market.fr. Each shop is an indoor boutique with racks of sorted, cleaned second-hand garments, not an open-air stall or a street market. The buying is weighted toward 1960s and 1970s bohemian styles — hence the name — alongside denim, jackets, shirts, dresses and accessories from later decades.
The distinction matters because the name misleads people. Searches for “hippy market Paris” and “hippie market Paris” often come from visitors expecting a flea market with food stalls. If that is what you want, Paris has separate marchés agricoles and flea markets. Hippy Market sells clothing only.

Three Hippy Market shops are confirmed inside Paris by multiple independent listings, two in the Marais (4th arrondissement) and one in the Latin Quarter (6th). What time does Hippy Market open?
Every Hippy Market shop in Paris opens at 2:00 p.m. on Monday and Sunday, and at 11:00 a.m. from Tuesday to Saturday. The two Marais shops close at 7:30 p.m.; the Saint-André des Arts shop stays open until 8:00 p.m. every day it trades.
This is the detail most listings get wrong. “Open seven days a week” is accurate but incomplete: turn up at 11:00 a.m. on a Monday or a Sunday and the shutters will still be down. If you are building a shopping morning around the Marais, start elsewhere and reach Hippy Market after lunch.

Which Hippy Market shop should you go to?
Pick by neighbourhood rather than by stock, because second-hand inventory turns over constantly and no branch reliably carries a given item.
- Already in the Marais: rue Rambuteau and rue du Temple sit roughly eight minutes’ walk apart, so you can do both in one trip and compare racks.
- Based on the Left Bank: go to Saint-André des Arts. It is the largest of the three, it closes half an hour later, and it sits in the middle of the Quartier latin walking route.
- Short on time: choose the one nearest your hotel. The difference between branches is smaller than the metro ride between them.
What can you buy at Hippy Market?
Hippy Market stocks vintage clothes and accessories, all second-hand: denim, leather and suede jackets, printed shirts, knitwear, dresses, skirts, coats, bags, belts and scarves. Items are sorted, cleaned and repaired before they reach the floor, and racks are arranged by garment type and colour rather than by size, so browsing takes longer than in a conventional shop.

Is there a Hippy Market outside Paris?
Yes. The chain also trades at 15 Parvis de la Défense in Puteaux, immediately west of the city boundary and reachable on metro line 1 or RER A; at 21 rue aux Juifs in Rouen, in Normandy roughly 135 km north-west of Paris; at 8 rue de la Lanterne in Strasbourg; and at 3 rue Benoît Bunico in Vieux-Nice. Only the La Défense shop is a realistic add-on to a Paris trip. The other three are day-trip or holiday stops rather than Paris destinations.

Le Pavillon de la Reine (best luxury option)
Le Pavillon de la Reine sits on Place des Vosges, about a ten-minute walk from both Marais shops. It is a five-star hotel set back behind a courtyard garden, with a spa and a restaurant on site. Choose it if you want the quietest address in the Marais and are not counting euros.

Le Hôtel Bastille Speria sits between Bastille and the southern Marais, which keeps both Hippy Market shops and the Place des Vosges within a short walk. It is a straightforward three-star with small but well-kept rooms, and it is the sensible middle choice on this list.

Hotel Paris Bastille (best budget option)
Hôtel Paris Bastille is the cheapest of the three and sits beside Bastille metro, which puts the Musée du Louvre and the Marais shops a few stops apart on line 1. Rooms are plain; the location does the work.

Near the rue du Temple shop (Marais)
- Place des Vosges: the oldest planned square in Paris, ringed by arcades and a short walk south-east of the shop. Free to enter.
- Centre Pompidou: one of the best-known musées à Paris, and its modern and contemporary art collection is two streets west of rue du Temple. Entry to the building and library is free; the museum collection is ticketed. You can book a Centre Pompidou tour. Check current opening arrangements before you go, as the building is undergoing a multi-year renovation programme.

Near the rue Rambuteau shop (Marais)
- Musée d’Art et d’Histoire du Judaïsme: a Paris art museum devoted to Jewish art and history, housed in the Hôtel de Saint-Aignan on rue du Temple. Ticketed.
- Jardin Anne-Frank: a small walled public garden reached through a passage off rue des Hospitalières-Saint-Gervais. Free, quiet, and easy to miss from the street.

Near the Saint-André des Arts shop (Latin Quarter)
- Pont-Neuf: despite the name, the oldest standing bridge across the Seine in Paris, completed in 1607 and a few minutes north of the shop. See our guide to Paris des ponts.
- Notre Dame: the 12th-century cathedral on the Île de la Cité, which reopened to visitors in December 2024 after the post-fire restoration. Free entry; expect queues.

Both of these are in Rouen, in Normandy — not in Paris. Rouen is about 90 minutes from Paris Saint-Lazare by direct train.

Is Hippy Market a market or a shop?
It is a shop. Hippy Market is a chain of indoor second-hand clothing boutiques. There are no stalls, no traders and no food.
Is there a Hippy Market in Montmartre, near the Sacré-Cœur, or on rue de Turbigo?
Probably not any longer, and the listings genuinely disagree. Sortiraparis still keeps a Hippy Market Montmartre page giving 51 rue de Clignancourt (75018), while Yelp lists that same address as permanently closed. Trade press recorded a Paris branch opening at 9 rue des Trois Frères, near Abbesses, in March 2011, and no current directory shows it trading. Yelp separately lists a Hippy Market at 3 rue de Turbigo in the 1st arrondissement, which no other current source we checked repeats. The three shops confirmed above are all in the 4th and 6th arrondissements, so phone 09 63 56 67 93 for the current address list before making a special trip to any of the others. If you are going up to Montmartre anyway, the guided Sacré-Cœur tour and dome climb is the anchor sight in that quarter.
Which Hippy Market is in the Marais?
Two of them: 41 rue du Temple and 71 rue Rambuteau, both in the 75004 postcode. They are about eight minutes’ walk apart.
Is Hippy Market open on Sunday?
Yes, but from 2:00 p.m. only. Sunday and Monday are the two late-opening days at all three Paris shops.

Addresses, opening hours and phone numbers were re-checked on 18 August 2026 against French business directories, trade press and city listings, and cross-checked between at least two independent sources per shop. The brand’s own boutique index is client-rendered and returned no readable text to us, so nothing here rests on it alone. We removed an earlier claim that the shop sells food and an earlier description of Rouen landmarks as being in Paris, neither of which was correct. Where the sources conflict, which is the case for the 18th-arrondissement branch, we set out the disagreement instead of picking a side. We do not state a price range, because second-hand stock is priced individually and any published range would be a guess.
