Paris-Beauvais Airport (BVA), officially Aéroport de Paris-Beauvais Tillé, is the low-cost airport for Paris that is not in Paris. It sits in Tillé in the Oise, and the airport’s own taxi tariff puts it 89 km from Paris by road, about an hour and a quarter each way. The official Aérobus coach costs €17.90 one way online and runs to Porte Maillot and to La Villette. Two things catch people out: the terminals close overnight on a different schedule every day of the week, and easyJet does not fly here at all. Where is Beauvais Airport, and how far is it from Paris?

Beauvais Airport is 89 km north of Paris by road, in the village of Tillé just outside the cathedral city of Beauvais. That is the figure the airport itself publishes in its taxi fare table, and it is the one that matters, because you will travel by road. Mapping services and Wikipedia give 69 km, or 43 miles, which is the straight-line distance and is why the two numbers you see quoted online disagree by 20 km.

The practical consequence is bigger than the number. Beauvais is in the Oise department, outside the Île-de-France transport zone. No metro line, RER line or Navigo pass reaches it, there is no railway station at the airport, and the Paris flat-rate airport taxi fares that apply to Charles de Gaulle and Orly do not apply here. Every route into the city is a separate paid journey you have to plan.

How do you get from Beauvais Airport to Paris?

Five routes work, and the official Aérobus coach is the default for almost everyone: it leaves from the bus station between the two terminals, is timed around flights rather than a fixed clock, and lands you at a metro interchange. The table compares what each option costs and how long it takes.

What does the Aérobus shuttle cost in 2026?

An adult single is €17.90 booked online and €18.00 bought on the spot, so the online saving on a one-way ticket is ten cents. The saving that actually matters is on returns and on children, where buying at the machine costs you €5.10 and €8.10 respectively. These are the operator’s published 2026 fares.

Payment differs by end of the route. At the airport the ticket desk takes cash or card; at Porte Maillot it takes card only, and the ticket office there is open 03:00 to 19:30. Buy from the airport’s own shuttle page or from aerobus.fr rather than a resale site.

Do not assume your ticket is open-dated. For the A01 Porte Maillot line the operator says validity is printed on the ticket itself. For the A04 La Villette line it states plainly that a ticket is valid only for the journey on the date and time you chose. Guides that promise twelve months of flexible travel on any departure are describing a rule the operator does not publish.

Where does the Aérobus leave from in Paris?

There are two Paris terminals, not one. Older guides say every coach uses Porte Maillot; the operator now runs a second line to La Villette, and its tickets cannot be bought on the day at the stop.

Porte Maillot is a five-minute walk from Place de l’Étoile and the top of the Champs-Élysées, which is why it suits most visitors: metro 1 runs straight through the Louvre, the Marais and Gare de Lyon. La Villette puts you on metro 7 for Gare de l’Est, Opéra, the Île de la Cité and Place d’Italie. The Villette bus station sits inside a car park and the door code is printed on your ticket, so screenshot it before you lose signal.

What time do the Beauvais shuttles run?

The Aérobus timetable is tied to flights, not to a clock. Coaches leave Porte Maillot from 03:00 to 19:30 and the airport from 07:30 to 23:30, every 15 to 30 minutes, and the airport-bound service waits for the last flights of the day even when they are delayed.

• Going to the airport: book the coach scheduled 3 h 30 before your flight departs. From La Villette, add 10 to 15 minutes for boarding.
• Coming from the airport: a coach is scheduled 20 minutes after your flight lands, so you do not need to pick a time in advance.
• If you land after the metro closes: the airport points passengers to its Taxymatch shared-transfer service rather than leaving you at a shut station.
• Reduced mobility: an adapted shuttle can be arranged, but the airport asks for an email to its Parks and Access team at least 48 hours before travel.

Can you use a Navigo pass or metro ticket on the shuttle?

No. The Aérobus is a private regional coach, not part of the Paris network, and Beauvais is outside Île-de-France altogether. Navigo Easy, Navigo Découverte, Paris Visite and single metro tickets are all invalid on it, and no travelcard covers the journey. You buy a dedicated Aérobus ticket, and that is separate from whatever you use once you reach Porte Maillot or La Villette.

How do you reach Beauvais Airport by train?

There is no station at the airport, so the rail route is two legs. TER Hauts-de-France trains run from Paris Gare du Nord to Gare de Beauvais roughly 26 times a day, taking about 1 h 05 to 1 h 20. Booked ahead the fare is usually single figures; walk-up tickets run to about €17. From Beauvais station to the airport, the local Corolis network runs a bus about once an hour and the ride takes roughly 21 minutes. Published sources disagree on which line to take: Wikipedia lists TUB line 12 plus a dedicated airport shuttle calling at the SNCF station, while several travel sites name Corolis line 6. Check the number on the Corolis timetable the day you travel rather than trusting either. A taxi covers the same hop for about €17 by day, and the airport’s own fare table calls it 6.5 km, where Wikipedia calls the station “almost 4 km” away.

What does a taxi from Paris to Beauvais Airport cost?

Around €185 by day and €230 at night, Sundays and public holidays, for the run between Paris and the airport. The airport publishes an indicative fare table because there is no regulated flat rate on this route; the meter is what you pay. Day rate runs 07:00 to 19:00 on ordinary weekdays and Saturdays, night rate 19:00 to 07:00 and all day Sunday.

On top of the meter: a €2.10 pick-up charge, a €7.30 minimum fare, €3 for each passenger from the fifth adult onward, and tolls and parking against receipts. Which terminal will your flight use, T1 or T2?

Neither terminal belongs to one airline, so check your flight, not your carrier. Guides that tell you Terminal 2 is the Ryanair terminal are wrong. On the airport’s live board for 31 August 2026, Ryanair flights were split across both buildings on the same morning: FR3435 from Kraków arrived at T1 while FR8208, also from Kraków, used T2. Wizz Air was split the same way, Chisinau into T1 and Bucharest into T2.

The terminal is assigned per flight and can change, so read it off your boarding pass or the airport’s live flight board on the day. The cost of getting it wrong is small: the two terminals are about a three-minute walk apart, both are compact, and each has check-in desks, security, a duty-free shop and food. Terminal 2 is the newer building, added in 2010 at 6,000 m² when Ryanair traffic outgrew the original hangar.

What time do the Beauvais terminals open and close?

Beauvais is not a 24-hour airport, and there is no single closing time. The operator publishes separate opening hours for each terminal on each day of the week, and the spread is wide: Terminal 2 shuts at 19:30 on Sunday and 20:30 on Monday, but stays open until 23:15 on Thursday. Terminal 1 opens as early as 03:15 on most days and as late as 04:30 on Friday.

The operator marks these as subject to change, so treat the table as the shape of the week rather than a guarantee and re-check the airport’s operating-hours page before an early or late flight. Two practical readings: an 06:00 arrival at the terminal is fine on most days because doors open around 03:15, and a Sunday evening plan that assumes T2 is open at 21:00 is not.

Can you sleep at Beauvais Airport overnight?

No. The terminals close to the public outside their published operating hours, and there is nowhere to wait inside. A night flight ban has been enforced here since 2007 for the benefit of residents in Tillé, and the buildings shut behind the last departure.

If your flight leaves at 06:30, do not plan to arrive the night before and doze in departures. Either take the first morning Aérobus from Paris, which is timed to reach the airport two hours before flights, or sleep locally. Which airlines fly from Beauvais Airport?

Five carriers, and easyJet is not one of them. The airport’s own airline page lists HiSky, the Ryanair Group, SkyUp, Volotea and Wizz Air, serving close to 80 destinations. easyJet flies to Paris through Charles de Gaulle and Orly instead, so a guide that puts it at Beauvais is sending you to the wrong airport, 89 km from the one on your ticket.

Book the flight and the transfer in advance together, because a cheap seat with a walk-up bus ticket is not a cheap trip.

Is it better to fly into Beauvais or Charles de Gaulle?

Charles de Gaulle is better unless the Beauvais fare is at least €40 cheaper per person for a return trip, once you add the ground transport and the time. The gap is not close on paper.

Beauvais still wins in two situations. If your route only exists from Beauvais, which is true of much of the Romanian, Moldovan and Balkan network, there is no comparison to make. How early should you arrive at Beauvais Airport?

Two hours for a Schengen flight and two and a half to three hours for anything outside the Schengen area, including the UK, Ireland, Morocco and the Balkans, because those need passport control as well as security. The airport currently carries a standing notice on its own site asking passengers to allow extra time for high traffic and longer waits at checkpoints, which is a fair reflection of a building handling 6.67 million passengers a year on a compact footprint.

Work backwards from the terminal opening times above rather than from the flight. On a Friday, Terminal 1 does not open until 04:30, so arriving at 04:00 for a 06:30 departure means standing outside.

Is there luggage storage at Beauvais Airport?

The airport has no left-luggage office or lockers. If you need to drop bags, the options are the third-party networks that use nearby shops and hotels, with published rates from about €2.50 to €2.69 per bag per day, or a hotel that will hold luggage for guests. Plan for this before you fly rather than after you land, because there is no counter to walk up to.

What shops and restaurants are at Beauvais Airport?

Enough for a coffee and a sandwich, not enough for a long layover. The airport lists Starbucks, Paul, Illy, Franks, Pizzeria Tony and a brasserie across the two terminals, plus duty-free and shopping both airside and in the public areas. Prices are airport prices, and the seating fills up when two flight banks overlap.

There is no airline lounge network here of the kind CDG has, so if you want a quiet hour before a flight, buy it in Beauvais town rather than at the terminal.

Where do you park at Beauvais Airport?

Two main car parks sit directly in front of the terminals: P1 with 330 spaces opposite Terminal 1, and P2 with 170 spaces outside Terminal 2. Booking online is cheaper than turning up, and the airport runs a searchable rate tool for dates.

The drop-off area gives you 15 free minutes. Beyond three passes through it in any rolling 24-hour period with the same vehicle, the charge becomes €2.50 from the first minute, which is aimed at circling drivers rather than a single kiss-and-fly.

How do you claim a VAT refund at Beauvais Airport?

Scan your tax-free form at a PABLO kiosk before you pass security, and wait for the green confirmation. The kiosks are in both terminals, and French Customs has an office beside the check-in area for the cases where a manual inspection is needed.

The rules underneath it: you must be a non-EU resident, over 16, and have spent at least €100.01 including VAT with a single retailer on a single day. The goods have to leave the EU in your luggage, and the form has to be validated before the end of the third month following the month of purchase. Leave time for it, because the kiosks sit before security and the queue is part of your two hours.

It handled 6.67 million passengers in 2025 and is now France’s 8th busiest airport, up about 67.6% on its 2019 total, the strongest growth of any French airport of its size over that period. That is the number to hold in your head when you read older guides quoting four million: this airport has grown roughly two-thirds in six years without a matching increase in floor space, which is why queues are the most common complaint about it.

For context on scale, the airport holds Level 4 of the Airport Carbon Accreditation scheme and its main runway has a CAT III instrument landing system on runway 12, so bad weather rarely diverts flights even though the terminals are small.

Five mistakes that cost travellers money at Beauvais

• Booking a Beauvais flight for a Paris weekend without pricing the transfer. Two adults returning add €59.80 in coach fares and about two and a half hours of travel that a CDG arrival would not cost.
• Buying shuttle tickets at the machine. A family of two adults and two children pays €140.00 on site for return travel against €99.60 online, a difference of €40.40.
• Assuming the terminal closes at a fixed time. Sunday evening in Terminal 2 ends at 19:30, roughly four hours earlier than the same building on Thursday.
• Turning up at the terminal your airline usually uses. Terminals are assigned per flight; on the day we checked, two Kraków flights on the same airline used different buildings.
• Planning to leave bags at the airport. There is no left-luggage facility, and the alternatives are off-site and need booking.

Who should fly into Beauvais, and who should not

Fly into Beauvais if your route only exists from here, you are travelling light on a short trip, your saving beats €40 a head return, or your destination is Amiens, Rouen, Chantilly or the Normandy coast rather than Paris itself.

Choose another Paris airport if you land late at night, you are travelling with small children or heavy luggage, your onward connection is a train from a Paris terminus with a tight margin, you need step-free travel without arranging it 48 hours ahead, or you are heading to Disneyland, where the taxi alone is quoted at €250 by day.
