Hey there, fellow parents and adventure seekers! 🎉 So, guess what? We are headed to Disney! 🎈
But this trip is extra special because we’re also celebrating my little girl’s first birthday on June 4th! Can you believe it? It feels like just yesterday I was in baby bliss, and now we’re gearing up for party hats and cake!
Now, Disney is an exciting place for kids of all ages, and since we have our ten-year-old joining the fun, I thought I’d share some tips on how to make the most out of this magical adventure with both a toddler and a preteen in tow.
1. Plan a Birthday Celebration
Since it’s our little one’s first birthday, we want to make it unforgettable. Disney offers special birthday packages, and they even do cute little celebrations for the kiddies! You can get a birthday button at Guest Services, which is a super sweet way for everyone to know it’s her special day. Plus, prepare the camera – we’ll want tons of birthday pics with Mickey!
2. Character Meet-and-Greets
Nothing says “Disney” like meeting princesses and characters! I’ll be honest; while our baby may not fully grasp who Elsa is just yet, she’ll love the colorful costumes and the fun atmosphere. Our ten-year-old, on the other hand, is just the right age to appreciate the magic—and maybe even snag an autograph or two.
3. Kid-Friendly Rides
Disney is loaded with rides perfect for toddlers, so we can balance everyone’s needs. Think “It’s a Small World” or “Dumbo the Flying Elephant”—both are gentle and give our little girl a chance to enjoy the sights. And for our ten-year-old? A little rollercoaster excitement awaits with rides like Big Thunder Mountain!

4. Snack Time Adventures
Let’s be real: is it even a trip to Disney without indulging in some magical treats? From churros to Mickey-shaped ice cream bars, we’ll be on the lookout for fun snacks that everyone can enjoy. And hey, if the little one gets cranky, a snack break turns into a mini-adventure!
5. Parades and Shows
Make sure you grab a spot for one of the parades! The look on my daughter’s face when the characters come to life should be priceless. Plus, our ten-year-old will be thrilled with the energy and excitement in the air. This is a great way to relax and let the kids enjoy the show while we take a breather.
6. Photo Ops Aplenty
Whether it’s in front of Cinderella’s Castle or with her favorite character, capturing these memories is so important. We’ll have to make sure to bring a camera (and probably a portable charger too!). Trust me, you can never have too many photos of family moments like these.

7. Flexibility is Key
Finally, my biggest tip: stay flexible. With a birthday girl and an adventurous ten-year-old, plans might change—and that’s totally okay! Sometimes the best moments come from unexpected detours.
