Le Baratin is a restaurants restaurant in the Array arrondissement of Paris.

Le Baratin is a legendary little bistro in the 20th arrondissement, at 3 Rue Jouye-Rouve in the hilly Belleville district. Unchanged since 1987, it is where Argentine chef Raquel Carena helped pioneer the bistronomy movement — and where many of today’s young chefs still come to eat. With its mahogany bar, banquettes and a cellar full of natural wine, it is a true Parisian institution.

What to expect at Le Baratin

Carena’s cooking is honest, intuitive and seasonal — a daily-changing chalkboard of soulful, produce-led dishes that have inspired a generation. The natural-wine list, long championed here, is a major part of the appeal. The room is small, plain and full of devoted regulars, the atmosphere warm and unpretentious. It is not about polish or spectacle but about genuinely great cooking and wine, which is exactly why it remains so revered.
