Hey there, fellow travelers! So, my wife and I are currently living the European dream, making our way through some amazing cities. After spending some time in the bustling streets of Rome, the artistic vibes of Florence, and the fashion-forward life in Milan, we’re now heading to Nice for five days of sun and relaxation. But here’s the thing – I’m starting to wonder if our planned visit to Paris is really worth it.

You see, I’ve always thought of Paris as this magical place filled with romance, rich history, and of course, the iconic Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. But after falling in love with the slower-paced charm of smaller towns, I’m beginning to think that maybe, just maybe, Paris isn’t my scene. I mean, who needs to navigate through throngs of tourists when you can sip espresso in a quaint café and watch life roll by in a smaller town, right?
I’ve been checking in on my feelings about this upcoming visit, and honestly, the major attractions don’t excite me that much. I have zero interest in standing in long lines for the Louvre or snapping countless selfies with the Eiffel Tower. Plus, I can’t help but wonder if the food in Paris is really that much better than the amazing meals we’ve already enjoyed in places like Rome or Florence.

So, I’m left asking myself: is there something I’m missing? Is there a hidden charm in Paris that would make it worthwhile? I totally get that Paris is dripping with history and culture, but it feels like I’ve had more than my fill of cathedrals and monuments already.
Now, if Paris ends up being a skip on our itinerary, I’m on the lookout for other options! Since we’ll be flying out of Orly to Spain, I’m thinking we could explore some lesser-known gems instead.
How about a visit to Avignon with its stunning medieval architecture or maybe a trip to Aix-en-Provence for that gorgeous countryside experience? Even a short stay in Bordeaux to indulge in some wine tasting sounds way more appealing right now.
At the end of the day, travel is all about enjoying the journey and making memories. If that means opting out of Paris, then I’m all for it! What do you think? Have you ever skipped a must-visit city and come out the better for it? Let me know your thoughts!
