20 American Hotels in Paris (And Which Are Actually US-Owned)

Woman in white robe in a hotel in Paris

Six of the 20 hotels on this list are run by American companies. The other 14 are British, French, Canadian, German or independent, whatever their name sounds like. If you searched for American hotels in Paris because you want to earn or spend US loyalty points, the ones that qualify are Paris Marriott Rive Gauche, Paris Marriott Opera Ambassador, The Westin Paris – Vendôme, Best Western Plus Hôtel Sydney Opéra, La Maison Champs Elysées (a Marriott Design Hotels member) and Royal Regency Paris Vincennes (Hilton Grand Vacations). Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza read as American but belong to IHG, a British company based in Windsor. Pullman is Accor, French. Four Seasons is Canadian. MEININGER is German. The tables below sort all 20 by owner, arrondissement and loyalty program.

Some links on this page are affiliate links. If you book through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Ownership and loyalty-program details were checked against each group’s own corporate site in August 2026.

The short answer

  • American-owned groups with hotels in central Paris: Marriott International, Hilton, Hyatt, BWH Hotels (Best Western), Choice and Wyndham.
  • Not American, despite the impression: IHG (British), Accor (French), Four Seasons (Canadian), NH Hotel Group (Spanish brand, Thai parent), MEININGER (German).
  • Of the 20 hotels below, six carry a US-company affiliation and one of those six sits outside the Paris city limits.
  • Marriott has the deepest Paris footprint of any US group, spread across Marriott, Westin, Renaissance, Courtyard, Luxury Collection, Tribute Portfolio and Design Hotels.
  • If what you actually want is air conditioning, a king bed, ice, a lift and a 24-hour desk, book on those features, not on the badge over the door.

Which hotel groups in Paris are actually American?

Four of the six largest hotel groups operating in Paris are headquartered in the United States. The confusion comes from Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, two brands born in the US that now belong to IHG Hotels & Resorts, a FTSE 100 company that opened its global headquarters in Windsor, Berkshire in 2023. Here is who owns what.

Two edge cases are worth knowing before you book. Design Hotels is a Marriott subsidiary, so a design-led independent such as La Maison Champs Elysées earns and redeems Bonvoy points even though nothing about it looks like a chain hotel. And Hilton Grand Vacations, Hilton’s timeshare arm, owns Royal Regency Paris Vincennes, which is a vacation-ownership resort rather than a hotel you would normally walk into off the street.

This is the table most lists of American hotels in Paris leave out. The American column is the one that decides whether your Bonvoy, Honors or Best Western Rewards account does anything for you at check-in.

Six of 20 carry a US-company affiliation. One of the six, Royal Regency, is in Vincennes rather than Paris.

What “American-style” actually means in a Paris hotel

Most people searching for an American hotel in Paris are not asking about corporate ownership. They are asking for the room features US travelers assume and Paris often does not supply. Central Paris hotels sit in nineteenth-century Haussmann buildings, which sets hard limits on room size, lift shafts and duct runs. Check these six things on the booking page rather than trusting the brand.

  • Air conditioning. Not universal in Paris, and Haussmann-era buildings are the reason. Filter for it explicitly if you are travelling June to September.
  • Bed size. A French “grand lit” is usually 140cm or 160cm wide, narrower than a US king at 193cm. Look for the centimetre figure, not the word.
  • A lift. Plenty of three-star Paris hotels have six floors and no lift, or a lift that fits one person and one bag.
  • Ice. Corridor ice machines are an American convention. In Paris you usually ask reception.
  • 24-hour reception. Smaller independents lock the front door overnight and issue a code. Fine if you know; awkward after a delayed flight.
  • Power. France runs 230V on type E sockets. US dual-voltage chargers need a plug adapter, not a converter; hair dryers and curling irons usually need both.

The large US-group properties on this list, in particular the two Paris Marriott hotels and The Westin, are the safest bets on all six because they were built or gutted to brand standard. Several of the independents match them, but you have to read the room description to know.

Are there American hotels near the Eiffel Tower?

Not many, and none of the big US flags sit at the tower’s foot. The closest properties on this list are Hôtel de Londres Eiffel at 1 Rue Augereau in the 7th and Hôtel Le Walt at 37 Avenue de la Motte-Picquet, both independent French hotels within a ten-minute walk of the Champ de Mars. Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel, at 18 Avenue de Suffren in the 15th, is the nearest big-chain tower-view hotel and is Accor, so French. For a US chain within one metro ride, The Westin Paris – Vendôme in the 1st is about 20 minutes door to door on line 8 and then line 1. If a tower view matters more than the loyalty program, book Pullman and accept that your Bonvoy nights will not move.

Do American hotel points work in Paris?

Yes, at the properties belonging to a US group. Marriott Bonvoy has by far the widest Paris coverage of the American programs, running from Courtyard up to Luxury Collection, and it is the program that makes La Maison Champs Elysées bookable on points through Design Hotels. Hilton Honors covers Hilton Paris Opéra, Hilton Paris La Défense and Hilton Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, plus Canopy by Hilton Paris Eiffel Tower, Hilton Garden Inn Paris La Villette and the Tapestry and Curio collection properties. World of Hyatt is small but strong in Paris: Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, a Palace-classified hotel with 155 rooms, and the 995-room Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile. Best Western Rewards works at the Best Western Plus and Best Western Premier hotels scattered across the 8th, 9th and 17th.

A separate question people ask in the same breath is whether American Express hotel benefits apply. Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection are booking channels, not owners, and they include Paris properties from French and Canadian groups as readily as American ones. Card benefits and chain loyalty status are two different levers; check both before you pick.

The 6 American-owned hotels on this list

Each entry gives the street address, the parent group and whether a US loyalty account earns there.

1. Best Western Plus Hôtel Sydney Opéra (American)

Best Western Plus Hôtel Sydney Opéra
Tripadvisor.com

50 Rue des Mathurins, 75008 Paris. BWH Hotels, Phoenix, Arizona. Best Western Rewards earns here. A 36-room hotel in a Napoleon III building on a quiet side street between the Opéra Garnier and the Madeleine, five minutes from the department stores on Boulevard Haussmann and the wider shopping-street network and a short walk from Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Rooms were renovated recently and breakfast includes house-made pastries. Best Western hotels in France are independently owned and franchise the brand, so decor varies from property to property far more than it would in the US. Check rates on Booking.com or plan the trip around the best time to visit Paris.

2. La Maison Champs Elysées (American via Marriott)

Hôtel La Maison Champs Elysées
Tripadvisor.com

8 Rue Jean Goujon, 75008 Paris, inside La Maison des Centraliens. Design Hotels, a Marriott International subsidiary. Marriott Bonvoy earns and redeems here. This is the entry most people get wrong: a Haussmann-era mansion turned design hotel that carries no American branding anywhere on the building, yet appears on marriott.com as a Design Hotels member. It sits one street back from the Avenue des Champs-Elysées and a short walk from several of the city’s monuments. If you hold Bonvoy status and want a room that looks nothing like a chain hotel, this is the pick on this list.

3. Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center (American)

Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center
Paris Marriott Rive Gauche Hotel & Conference Center

17 Boulevard Saint-Jacques, 75014 Paris. Marriott International, Bethesda, Maryland. Marriott Bonvoy earns here. The largest full-service Marriott on the Left Bank, built for conferences and therefore built to US room standards: air conditioning throughout, a 24-hour front desk and lifts that take luggage. Denfert-Rochereau and Saint-Jacques metro stations are both close, putting the Latin Quarter within a ten-minute ride. Book direct on Marriott.com or compare via a rate search.

4. The Westin Paris – Vendôme (American)

The Westin Paris - Vendôme
The Westin Paris

3 Rue de Castiglione, 75001 Paris. Marriott International. Marriott Bonvoy earns here. The most central American-owned hotel on this list, on the corner of the Tuileries with Place Vendôme one block north. Westin is Marriott’s wellness-leaning brand, which in practice means the Heavenly Bed, a gym that opens early and rooms sized closer to what US guests expect than the Paris average. The hotel bar is one of the better ones in the 1st, and our guide to the best hotel bars in Paris covers the competition. Metro Tuileries on line 1 is at the door, and Sacré-Coeur is a straight run on line 12 from Concorde. Rates on Booking.com.

5. Paris Marriott Opera Ambassador Hotel (American)

Paris Marriott Opera Ambassador Hotel on Boulevard Haussmann
Booking.com

16 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009 Paris. Marriott International. Marriott Bonvoy earns here. A 1927 Art Deco building on Boulevard Haussmann, directly between the Opéra Garnier and the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps department stores, which makes it the shopping-trip hotel of the three Paris Marriotts. Chaussee d’Antin – La Fayette metro is a two-minute walk. See rates on Booking.com and the wider shopping streets guide.

6. Royal Regency Paris Vincennes (American, but not in Paris)

Royal Regency Paris Vincennes
Tripadvisor.com

69-71 Rue Defrance, 94300 Vincennes. Hilton Grand Vacations, Orlando, Florida. Vacation-ownership resort, not a standard Honors hotel. Two things to know before this one appeals. It is a timeshare property that came to Hilton Grand Vacations through the Diamond Resorts acquisition, so nightly availability is limited and Hilton Honors redemption does not work the way it does at a Hilton-branded hotel. And the 94300 postcode places it in Vincennes, in the Val-de-Marne, outside the Paris city boundary. Château de Vincennes on line 1 puts you in central Paris in about 25 minutes, which suits a weekend in Paris on a budget. Details on the Hilton Grand Vacations site.

The 14 that are not American

These are worth booking on their merits. They just will not do anything for a US loyalty balance, and two of them are commonly misfiled as American brands.

7. Crowne Plaza Paris – République (British, IHG)

Crowne Plaza Paris
Crowne Plaza Paris

10 Place de la République, 75011 Paris. IHG Hotels & Resorts, Windsor, Berkshire. IHG One Rewards, not a US program. Crowne Plaza began as a Holiday Inn tier in Rockville, Maryland in 1983, which is why it still reads American, but the brand has belonged to a British-listed company since IHG demerged from Bass in 2003. The hotel itself occupies a nineteenth-century building on Place de la République with lines 3, 5, 8, 9 and 11 underneath it, the best metro interchange of any hotel here. The Guerrisol thrift shops and the brasseries of the 10th and 11th are within walking distance.

8. NH Paris Gare de l’Est, formerly Holiday Inn (Spanish brand, Thai parent)

Holiday Inn Paris
Tripadvisor.com

5 Rue du 8 Mai 1945, 75010 Paris. NH Hotel Group, part of Minor Hotels. No US loyalty program. This hotel spent years as the Holiday Inn Paris – Gare de l’Est and is still listed under that name across much of the web, including on this page until this update. It has since rebranded to NH Paris Gare de l’Est, which moves it from IHG to NH Hotel Group, the Madrid-based chain owned by Minor International of Bangkok. So it was never American, and it is no longer even IHG. The 200-room, eight-story building faces the Gare de l’Est concourse, which is the practical reason to book it. Compare it against IHG’s remaining Paris hotels, check current rates on Booking.com, or see our Balmoral Champs Elysées review.

9. Pullman Paris Montparnasse (French, Accor)

Pullman Paris Montparnasse
Pullman Paris Montparnasse

19 Rue du Commandant René Mouchotte, 75014 Paris. Accor, Issy-les-Moulineaux. ALL Accor Live Limitless, not a US program. A large tower hotel next to Gare Montparnasse, rebuilt and reopened as Accor’s premium Pullman brand. Rooms are consistent and air-conditioned, and the upper floors look north across the Left Bank. Montparnasse-Bienveüe serves lines 4, 6, 12 and 13, which is why business travelers keep choosing it. Rates on Booking.com. If you want the same neighborhood with more character, see our Saint-Germain hotels guide.

10. Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel (French, Accor)

Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel
Tripadvisor.com

18 Avenue de Suffren, 75015 Paris. Accor. ALL Accor Live Limitless. The closest big-chain hotel to the Eiffel Tower, on the corner of Avenue de Suffren and Rue Jean Rey, with tower-view rooms that carry a premium and are worth booking well ahead. Bir-Hakeim on line 6 and RER C at Champ de Mars are both a few minutes away. Pair it with our guide to things to do near the Eiffel Tower and check rates on Booking.com.

11. Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris (Canadian)

Four Seasons Hotel George V
Booking.com

31 Avenue George V, 75008 Paris. Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Toronto. No points program. The most misattributed hotel on this list. Four Seasons was founded in Toronto in 1960 by Isadore Sharp and remains headquartered there, so the George V is Canadian-run, not American, and Four Seasons operates no loyalty points scheme at all. The 1928 building sits in the Golden Triangle between the Champs-Elysées and Avenue Montaigne, holds Palace distinction and is known for its floral installations. Full write-up in our Four Seasons George V review, plus the luxury shopping on Rue Saint-Honoré nearby. Rates on Booking.com.

12. MEININGER Hotel Paris Porte de Vincennes (German)

MEININGER Hotel Paris Porte de Vincennes
Booking.com

37 Boulevard Carnot, 75012 Paris. MEININGER Hotels, Berlin. No US program. MEININGER runs hybrid hotel-hostel properties across Europe, mixing private rooms with multi-bed rooms and a guest kitchen, which makes this the cheapest bed on the list and the one families and groups actually use. Porte de Vincennes on line 1 is at the door, and the surrounding 12th has a good run of cafe terraces. Rates drop hard in low season, so read our notes on Paris in January before you fix dates. It belongs in any list of Paris hotels around 100 euros, and pairs well with our Paris travel tips and skip-the-line ticket guide.

13. Hôtel Le Walt (French, Inwood Hotels)

Hôtel Le Walt Paris
Tripadvisor.com

37 Avenue de la Motte-Picquet, 75007 Paris. Inwood Hotels. No US program. A small 7th-arrondissement hotel run by the French Inwood group, decorated around large painted panels, a five-minute walk from the Champ de Mars and one of the closest properties here to the tower. École Militaire on line 8 is around the corner. See also our books about the Eiffel Tower and the Château des Fleurs.

14. Hôtel Marais Grands Boulevards (French, independent)

Hôtel Marais Grands Boulevards
Booking.com

112 Boulevard de Sébastopol, 75003 Paris. Independent. No US program. A boutique hotel on the western edge of the Marais, closer to Réaumur-Sébastopol than to the quiet lanes people picture, which is the trade-off: excellent transport, a busy boulevard outside. Place des Vosges is a 15-minute walk east. Compare it with Hôtel Le 123 Sébastopol on the same boulevard, or check rates on Booking.com.

15. Terminus Lyon Hotel (French, independent)

Terminus Lyon Hotel
Booking.com

19 Boulevard Diderot, 75012 Paris. Independent. No US program. A Haussmann-fronted hotel directly opposite the Gare de Lyon, which is the whole argument for it: if you are taking a TGV south, you cross the road. Lines 1 and 14 and RER A and D all run from the station. Useful if you are compressing a lot into three days in Paris, and near the Bastille hotel cluster. Rates on Booking.com.

16. Hôtel Observatoire Luxembourg (French, independent)

Hôtel Observatoire Luxembourg
Booking.com

107 Boulevard Saint-Michel, 75005 Paris. Independent. No US program. On Boulevard Saint-Michel facing the Jardin du Luxembourg, in the middle of the Latin Quarter. Luxembourg RER B is at the door, which matters because RER B runs direct to Charles de Gaulle. It is also the best-placed hotel here for walking the Saint-Michel and Saint-Germain boulevards. Rooms are small in the way 5th-arrondissement rooms are small. Good base for Paris at night and for a morning croissant crawl.

17. Hôtel de Londres Eiffel (French, independent)

Hôtel de Londres Eiffel
Tripadvisor.com

1 Rue Augereau, 75007 Paris. Independent. No US program. A 30-room hotel on a side street off Rue Saint-Dominique, in the residential pocket between the Champ de Mars and Les Invalides. Previous versions of this page called it an American hotel; it is a French-owned independent with no chain affiliation, and it is on the list because of location and consistent service, not ownership. Pair it with our restaurants with an Eiffel Tower view. Rates on Booking.com.

18. Hôtel Le Petit Paris (French, independent)

Hôtel Le Petit Paris
Tripadvisor.com

214 Rue Saint-Jacques, 75005 Paris. Independent. No US program. A 20-room hotel on Rue Saint-Jacques with rooms themed by period, a short walk uphill from the Panthéon and Cluny. Booked direct through the hotel’s own site. Nothing about it is American, and the earlier claim on this page that it offers a touch of American familiarity was not supported by anything the hotel says about itself.

19. Hôtel Europe Saint-Séverin (French, independent)

Hôtel Europe Saint-Séverin
Tripadvisor.com

38-40 Rue Saint-Séverin, 75005 Paris. Independent. No US program. On a pedestrian street in the oldest part of the Latin Quarter, a two-minute walk from Saint-Michel and the Seine, and about ten minutes from Notre-Dame. The street is loud in the evening, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on the traveler. See our guide to the Gothic cathedrals of Paris.

20. Hôtel Whistler Paris (French, independent)

Hôtel Whistler Paris
Tripadvisor.com

36 Rue de Saint-Quentin, 75010 Paris. Independent. No US program. A four-star independent in the 10th, sitting between the Gare du Nord and the Gare de l’Est, so it is the obvious base if you are arriving on Eurostar or leaving for Brussels or Amsterdam. Decor takes its cue from the golden age of rail. Rooms facing the courtyard are quieter than those on Rue de Saint-Quentin.

Five mistakes American travelers make booking a Paris hotel

  • Assuming the brand name tells you the owner. Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza are IHG, a British company. Four Seasons is Canadian. Sofitel and Pullman are Accor, French.
  • Booking a hotel with Paris in its name that is not in Paris. Anything with a postcode starting 92, 93 or 94 sits in the inner suburbs. Paris proper runs 75001 to 75020.
  • Treating a French double bed as a US king. Ask for the width in centimeters before you book a room for two adults.
  • Skipping the air-conditioning filter for a summer trip. It is the single most common complaint in July and August reviews of otherwise good Paris hotels.
  • Packing a voltage converter when a plug adapter would do, or the reverse. Modern laptops and phone chargers handle 230V; heating appliances usually do not.
  • Tipping on the US scale. Service is included by law in France, so the rules are different from the ones you are used to. See our guide to tipping in France.

Questions people ask

Are there any American hotel chains in Paris?

Yes. Marriott International, Hilton, Hyatt and BWH Hotels all operate in Paris, and Choice and Wyndham have a presence in the wider region. Marriott has the widest coverage, from Courtyard through to Luxury Collection. IHG, whose Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza brands are often assumed to be American, has been a British company since 2003.

Is Holiday Inn American or British?

The brand was founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 1952, but it now belongs to IHG Hotels & Resorts, which is headquartered in Windsor, Berkshire and listed on the London Stock Exchange. Staying at a Holiday Inn in Paris earns IHG One Rewards points, not points in any US-owned program.

Which Paris hotel is best for Marriott Bonvoy members?

For location, The Westin Paris – Vendôme at 3 Rue de Castiglione in the 1st. For space and predictability, Paris Marriott Rive Gauche in the 14th. For a room that feels Parisian rather than corporate while still earning Bonvoy, La Maison Champs Elysées in the 8th, which qualifies through Design Hotels.

Do Paris hotels have air conditioning?

Many do not, particularly smaller independents in Haussmann-era buildings where retrofitting ductwork is impractical. The large US-group properties on this list are air-conditioned throughout. Always confirm on the specific room type, because some hotels air-condition only their renovated floors.

Is Four Seasons an American company?

No. Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts was founded in Toronto in 1960 and is still headquartered there. It also runs no loyalty points program, so a stay at the George V earns nothing transferable.

How we checked this

Every ownership claim above was checked against the parent company’s own corporate site rather than a booking aggregator, because aggregators frequently keep a hotel’s previous brand name live for years. That is exactly what happened with the first entry on this list: it was published here as the Holiday Inn Paris – Gare de l’Est and is now the NH Paris Gare de l’Est, a change that no third-party listing we found had propagated consistently.

Sources used: IHG plc corporate site (headquarters and listing), Marriott International corporate and property pages, Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations property pages, BWH Hotels corporate overview, Accor corporate site, Four Seasons corporate history, Hyatt property pages for Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme and Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile, and Minor Hotels for NH Paris Gare de l’Est. Addresses were taken from each hotel’s own site or its street listing and are given as street, postcode, city.

Last updated 26 August 2026. This update corrected the ownership of 14 of the 20 hotels, replaced the Holiday Inn Gare de l’Est entry with its current NH branding, moved Royal Regency out of the Paris list into Vincennes where it belongs, removed three addresses that had the country name in the wrong language, and added the group-by-group and hotel-by-hotel comparison tables. Rates and availability change constantly; the ownership and loyalty-program facts are the part of this page built to stay true.
