Start your day bright and early to make the most of Paris. The city comes alive as locals head to work and cafés open their doors.

Breakfast at a Café

Head to a charming Parisian café around 8 a.m. Pick a spot with outdoor seating to people-watch. Order a croissant and café au lait – the classic French breakfast combo. Some cafés offer pain au chocolat (chocolate croissants) if you want something sweeter.

While you eat, plan your route for the day. Buy a day pass for the Metro to zip around the city fast. Or rent a bike if you’re feeling active.

After breakfast, walk off those pastries. Stroll down cobblestone streets and peek in shop windows as they open. You’ll see locals rushing to work with baguettes tucked under their arms.

By 9:30 AM, you should be ready to hit your first big sight of the day. The morning crowds are smaller, so it’s the perfect time to visit popular spots like the Louvre or Notre Dame.

Time to explore the charming hilltop neighborhood of Montmartre. This artsy area offers stunning city views and a vibrant local culture.

Montmartre Exploration

Start your Montmartre adventure around 10:30 AM. Take the Metro to Abbesses station and climb the winding streets. Stop at a cute café for a quick coffee – you’ll need the energy for the hills!

Head to Place du Tertre, the famous artists’ square. Watch painters at work and maybe get a quick portrait done. It’s touristy but fun. Next, check out the white-domed Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Climb to the top for amazing Paris views.

Pro tip: go up the left side of the hill to avoid crowds.

Wander the cobblestone streets. Look for the Moulin Rouge windmill and cute little Clos Montmartre vineyard. Grab a fresh baguette and some cheese for a quick picnic lunch in a hidden square.

Don’t miss the “I Love You Wall” with “I love you” written in 250 languages. It’s a cool photo spot!

Lunch at a Bistro

12:30 PM—It’s Time to eat! Paris is famous for its bistros; there’s no better place for a midday meal. I love grabbing a seat at a cozy sidewalk table and people-watching while I dine. The atmosphere is lively, with locals chatting and tourists soaking in the Parisian vibes.

My go-to order? A classic croque-monsieur with a side salad. The melty cheese and crispy bread hit the spot every time. Wash it down with a glass of house wine – when in Rome (or Paris), right?

For dessert, I can’t resist a slice of tarte tatin. The caramelized apples and buttery crust are pure heaven.

Some top bistros to check out:

  • Bistrot Paul Bert in the 11th
  • Les Arlots in the 10th
  • À la Biche au Bois in the 12th

Pro tip: Many bistros offer great lunch deals. Look for the “menu du jour” for the best value.

Don’t rush your meal – take your time and enjoy the laid-back French dining style. It’s all part of the Parisian experience!

Afternoon

Hop on a boat at 2 PM for a relaxing hour-long cruise down the Seine. You’ll float past iconic landmarks like Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. Snap photos of the ornate bridges and grand buildings lining the riverbanks.

The cool breeze off the water feels great on a warm day. Listen to the guide, who shares fun facts about Paris’s history. Or just sit back and people-watch—you’ll see locals and tourists alike enjoying the banks of the Seine.

Pro tip: Grab a seat on the open upper deck for the best views. Bring a light jacket, though – it can get breezy on the water!

Head to the Eiffel Tower around 8:30 PM. Buy tickets in advance online to skip the long lines. Take the elevator to the second floor for amazing 360-degree views of Paris lit up at night.

Bring a jacket—it gets chilly up there! Snap some photos of the sparkling cityscape below. Then, watch the tower sparkle on the hour for five minutes.

For the best views, go to the Trocadero across the river. You’ll see the whole tower glowing against the night sky. Grab a crepe from a street vendor and find a spot on the steps to sit and take in the spectacular sight.

Finish your evening with a late dinner at a cozy bistro in the Marais neighborhood. Try classic French dishes like steak frites or coq au vin. Sip some wine and people-watch as you reflect on your whirlwind day in Paris.

For breathtaking nighttime views, head to a rooftop bar. Le Perchoir in the trendy Marais neighborhood offers panoramic vistas of the Eiffel Tower and the city skyline. Sip a craft cocktail as you watch the twinkling lights below. The bar opens at 6 p.m., so arrive early to snag a good spot.

Another great option is 43 Up On the Roof at the Holiday Inn Notre Dame. It’s open until 10 p.m. and gives you a bird’ s-eye view of the iconic cathedral. Order a glass of champagne to toast the sparkling city laid out before you.

If you’re still energetic, hit up some of Paris’ famous nightlife spots. The Bastille area is packed with bars and clubs that stay open late. Dance the night away at Badaboum or enjoy live music at Alimentation Générale.
